Not all of us doctors are manipulable. I am working for a county inpatient facility and also in the crisis dept. I knew back in 2010 that the FDA was not trustworthy when I learned that 3 FDA reviewers of a long-acting antipsychotic injectible of Zyprexa quit after they did not recommend that the drug be approved. This drug was ionically bonded to a carrier molecule, aka a salt. When salts of any kind are in water, they dissociate into the two molecules. So, if a nurse were to accidentally inject a blood vessel, the whole month's supply of the drug would dissociate immediately and kill the person. This is why for any patient who receives it must be monitored for two hours in the office. Needless to say, I have never nor will I EVER prescribe this drug or any new drugs. In my new role in crisis services: today the admin says, "hey doc! Will you talk to this drug rep?" Nope. I never talk to them. I don't prescribe new drugs. So, rep leaves a brochure with a card attached. It's a guy (of course!) and the brochure does not even include the name of the drug to pique my curiosity. In the trash it goes. They can eff off.
Also, the word chitin is pronounced KITE-in. This is what makes up exoskeletons of shellfish and insects.
Many of my colleagues today are Medical Doctors, who now see the harm.
While practicing as a paramedic in the 911 system, I finally woke up to the damage we ALL were causing systemically, during my last year of employment leading up to my termination for standing my ground for "DOING NO HARM."
Well in psych I have seen psychotic patients restored with clozapine and I know how I treat patients by teaching them how to take care of themselves and reminding them of their internal locus of control undoes some of the harms patients have experienced in the healthcare system. I do not believe in the commodification of the human being's suffering. No kickbacks to me as a public servant. I've had my own bad experiences with doctors and I listen deeply to suffering humans which can be medicine all by itself. And epsom salts baths or foot baths for everyone without kidney malfunction or congestive heart failure. That one thing alone helps alleviate suffering.
